Despite my continuously chasing the Administrators the only response from them is that they have still failed to make contact with the Quara technical people.
I'm not sure whether it is Quara dragging their feet or the Administrators, unfortunately I have found this is generally the situation regardless of the subject matter or the urgency.
I have spoken with a few owners who were here when the pool was originally being built and although they cannot remember specific detail they are sure that the paddling area was built at the same time as the main pool. Given that that is the case then the likelyhood is that the bulk of the floor is sound with just those few areas of weak spots. I have also had the builder back to make a further inspection of the pool damage and he believes that lifting the tiles from those areas that are breached and making them good will render the pool fully serviceable and watertight.
I still believe that it is obvious that the pool has never been grouted and that the original build was substandard, however it is also obvious that we cannot wait for the Administrators to elicit a response from Quara so I have instructed the builder to commence work as soon as he is able. He is reviewing his work commitments and will get back to me on Monday but it is probable that he will be in a position to set men working on our pool before the weekend.
I have asked him to give the tiles a thorough clean and replace any that are missing or broken, he will lift the tiles from the damaged areas and make good the soft spots in the floor. There are three lights not working and he will replace those and ensure that all the jets, skimmers, lights and drains etc. are then properly sealed. Finally he will seal the entire pool with high quality swimming pool grout. He expects the job to take around 1 week to complete.
The administrators insist that they are doing what they can to pursue Quara and if they manage to secure a claim for damages then that will be to our good but in the first instance the community will have to foot the bill. The initial cost estimate has reduced because we do not now need to excavate in order to expose the pipe work and so the estimated cost of repairs is now around €3,500 and I estimate the cost of water to refill the pool to be a further €1,500.
If all goes well the pool should be up and running by mid June.
