As you all know, our communal pool developed a leak some few weeks ago and we were advised that we would have to wait until the water level stopped dropping, which would give us a good idea where the leak was.

This we have done but it has meant that several weeks have passed by and the pool has become more and more dirty with all the dust brought down by the winds and rain we have been having.  Unfortunately the water level has continued to drop slowly albeit a bit difficult to judge with some evaporation taking place in the heat and subsequent top up in the rain. Consequently and with the holiday season looming, this weekend I commissioned a specialist company to come and pressure test all the pipes within the closed pool system and it appears that there is a crack somewhere within the pipe work feeding the skimmers. That has yet to be absolutely confirmed, but it does look very likely.

Given that that is the case then I will authorise the repair/replacement of those pipes and this will mean some excavation of the surrounding pathway. Also given that that is necessary and having examined the surrounding tile work, it is obvious that many of these tiles have splintered and in some cases have left quite sharp edges exposed which could lead to people cutting their feet. Again as a consequence of that, I intend at the same time as repairing the pool, to tile over all of the pathway surrounding the pool with appropriate and non slip tiles.

I pointed out in an earlier correspondence that our pool was never originally grouted and so as part of this overhaul of the pool, I will instruct the repair company to drain the pool, give it a thorough clean and replace any tiles missing and then grout the entire pool before refilling with water.

I'll have a better idea of costs and timescales in a few days when we should have assessed the extent of repair needed and I'll keep you all posted.

Any comments then of course feel free.
