During the summer we had a small plague of cockroaches. The local council do go around the area and apply a poisonous spray to the drains in the main roads but they do not come within the community boundary. I did approach the council on the basis that their action actually drives the cockroaches into the residential areas but I was told that all drains within the community boundary are the responsibility of the community owners. I obtained a quote from a pesticide company of around €400 per annum to keep our drains clear, but personally I’m not convinced it’s worth doing. Cockroaches will always be there, whilst spraying will kill some it will not eradicate them, it will merely move them around and the ones we see will be those already dead or dying, but what do you think? |
